AI & Automation Services

What is AI & Automation?

Most SMEs in Singapore run on processes that quietly cost them: schedules built by hand, invoices assembled one at a time, reports rebuilt every Monday, the same enquiry answered for the hundredth time. The tools to fix this used to belong to companies with enterprise budgets and IT departments. They no longer do.

AI & Automation is Wherefore's practice for putting that capability into scaling businesses, backed by an engineering practice that has been building software in Singapore and Vietnam since 2008. We are not a software vendor with a product to push. We start the way we start everything: with why. Which processes actually slow the business, what do they cost in hours and errors, and where would automation return the most time for the least complexity? Then we design and build around how your team actually works.

The work is concrete. We have built an operations platform that gave a franchise network scheduling, route planning, timesheets, invoicing, payroll, and financial reporting in one place. An invoicing app for small business owners with card payments built in. A member app for a property group with exclusive offers and family memberships. A multi-sided delivery platform with customer, driver, merchant, and operator layers. E-commerce and loyalty systems with points, ordering, and fulfilment. And financial systems with transaction cores, wallets, and bank-gateway integration, built under NDA. Automation handles the reliable, rule-based work. AI is the layer we add for judgement: triaging enquiries, drafting documents in your voice, summarising what the numbers say.

Every build is designed, not just configured: clear enough that your team adopts it, documented enough that you own it after we leave. For brands we have built, this work compounds. A clear brand core gives AI systems the voice, standards, and judgement to produce work that sounds like you, which is exactly why strategy comes before software.

Our Process
Our creative process is built on a series of four rigorous, interconnected procedures that adhere to proven design practices.
01
Discovery
Discovery
We begin by understanding the intent behind your brand, not just the brief. Through structured conversations with your leadership, we surface the ambitions and assumptions that shape every decision that follows.
02
Strategy
Strategy
With a clear understanding of why, we build the strategic foundation: positioning, architecture, and messaging. This is the document all work traces back to.
03
Design
Design
Strategy becomes visible. We develop the visual identity, communication systems, and creative work. Every decision is rooted in the foundation we built together. Nothing is arbitrary.
04
Delivery
Delivery
We hand over a brand ready to be used, with guidelines built for real decisions. Where needed, we stay involved to ensure the work lands the way it was intended.

Frequently Asked Questions About AI & Automation Services

What is AI and automation for SMEs?

Plus icon
AI and automation means replacing the manual, repetitive work that consumes an SME's week with software built around how the business actually runs: scheduling, quoting, invoicing, reporting, orders, memberships, and the data moving between them. Automation does the reliable, rule-based work. AI adds judgement on top: triaging enquiries, drafting documents in your voice, summarising reports, spotting what a person would otherwise have to look for. For a scaling business, the point is getting hours back every week without adding headcount or an enterprise budget.

Do we need technical staff to run what you build?

Plus icon
No. Everything we build is designed for the team you already have. Interfaces are built for daily use, documentation is in plain language, and training is part of the handover. Systems run on cloud or on your own infrastructure, and you own every account, system, and dataset when we hand over. If a system only works when a specialist is in the room, we consider it unfinished.

What should an SME automate first?

Plus icon
Start where the frequency is high, the rules are clear, and the risk is low: quotes and invoices, weekly reporting, enquiry handling, scheduling, and data entry between systems. We begin with a short process audit that maps where the hours actually go and where automation returns the most time for the least complexity, so the first build pays for the second. Adding AI comes after the process is sound, not before.

How is this different from buying off-the-shelf software?

Plus icon
Off-the-shelf software asks your business to fit the tool, and most SMEs end up running three tools that do not talk to each other. We work the other way. We start with why: how the business runs and where it loses time. Then we design and build around that, integrating with what you already use rather than replacing it. We are not a vendor with a product to push, and because we are designers first, what we build is clear enough that people actually adopt it.

Is our company data safe?

Plus icon
Data handling is scoped at the start of every engagement, under NDA where required, not after. We work within your existing accounts and access controls, choose tools with business-grade data protections, and configure AI services so your information is not used to train public models where that control exists. You keep ownership of every system, account, and dataset when we hand over.

How long does an AI and automation project take?

Plus icon
We build in sprints. The interface is designed and agreed first, then engineering proceeds in weekly cycles with results you can see and test at each one. A focused automation, such as a reporting pipeline or an enquiry workflow, typically lands within a few weeks. A fuller platform, combining scheduling, payments, dashboards, and internal tools with training, runs longer, usually one to three months. The audit at the start gives you a concrete scope and timeline before you commit to the build.
Can AI produce work that sounds like our brand?
Plus icon
Yes, and this is where our branding work and our engineering meet. Where we have defined a brand's voice and standards, we encode them into the systems we build, so generated drafts, replies, and documents start from how your company actually speaks rather than a generic average. For brands we have built, that foundation already exists and the systems inherit it directly.
